Body
WHEREAS, Whatsoever Community Center's Chance for Change program is an after school program, targeting youth and young adults ages ten through twenty-five in the Northeast Kansas City community, designed to approach drug, alcohol, and violence prevention by addressing academic and life skill issues as well as direct drug prevention activities; and,
 
WHEREAS, Whatsoever Community Center has received a grant from the Heart of America United Way for this program in the amount of $58,101; and,
 
WHEREAS, Whatsoever Community Center has requested Anti-Drug Sales Tax matching funds in the amount of $58,500.00 to serve as a local match for this program; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney has reviewed this proposal and recommends the expenditure of these funds; now therefore,
 
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive is hereby authorized to enter into a Cooperative Agreement, in a form to be approved by the County Counselor, with the Whatsoever Community Center for the Chance for Change program, at a cost to the County not to exceed $58,500.00; and,
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the Agreement.
 
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
