Body
WHEREAS, on October 5, 2007, at Kaw Point in Kansas City, KS, the Little Blue River Watershed Coalition and the Missouri River Watershed Festival Committee hosted “The Missouri River Watershed Festival,” a family event designed to educate Kansas City region elected officials, government management, stormwater professionals, consultants, and their families in the importance of conserving the Missouri River Watershed; and,
WHEREAS, Jackson County was advertised as a co-sponsor of this event; and
WHEREAS, the sponsorship of this event, at a cost to the County not to exceed $500.00, is in the best interest of the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Jackson County, Missouri; and
WHEREAS, this sum is available out of grant funds received by the Storm Water Commission from local municipalities; now therefore
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that the following appropriation from the unappropriated surplus of the 2007 Grant Fund be and hereby made:

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the Legislature expresses its full support of the
“Missouri River Watershed Festival” educational program and the Director of the Department of Finance be and hereby is authorized to issue a check in the amount of $500.00 to the Little Blue River Watershed Coalition in sponsorship of the event.

Effective Date: This Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
