A RESOLUTION commending Dorace Wilson for ten years of dedicated service to the citizens of Jackson County and wishing her well in all future endeavors.

Body
WHEREAS, on January 31, 2002, Dorace Wilson will retire from her position as consultant for the Independence Square Association and the Independence Tax Benefit District; and,
WHEREAS, in the past, she also worked for the Independence Square Redevelopment Group; and,
WHEREAS, starting in 1992, while maintaining her own business, Square One, Dorace also worked four hours per day, 20 hours per week with the Independence Square Association; and,
WHEREAS, her work schedule with the Association gradually increased to six to eight hours per day, plus meetings; and,
WHEREAS, at 76, Dorace said she wanted to reduce her work load and spend more time with her husband, so she accepted a job at a local hospital; and,
WHEREAS, on February 1, 2002, Dorace will begin her new job managing the Nearly New Shop run by the Independence Regional Health Center Auxiliary; and,
WHEREAS, Dorace said a lot of people did not give the Square much consideration, but that during the past ten years since she became spokesperson that has changed and "the Square has become a player;" and,
WHEREAS, Dorace will miss working with the people in City Hall, the businesses owners on the Square, and other officials, saying "I truly made a lot of friends here;" and,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature commends Dorace Wilson for ten years of dedicated service to the citizens of Jackson County as consultant and spokesperson for the Independence Square.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
