Body
WHEREAS, the Blue Springs High School Wildcat Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Tim Allshouse assisted by Kent Rausch, was chosen as the only jazz ensemble to perform at the Missouri Music Educators Association State Convention; and,
WHEREAS, the Wildcat Jazz Ensemble performed before more than 2,000 music lovers during the state convention held at the Lake of the Ozarks in January 2002; and,
WHEREAS, “I was so speechless...to have been selected is incredible because we get to represent the school and the community this way,” said Tim in an Independence Examiner interview; and,
WHEREAS, Tim wanted the ensemble to perform something special because the Missouri Music Educators Association State Convention was a special event; and,
WHEREAS, among the songs performed was “Dinner Music for Pack of Hungry Cannibals,” an arrangement by Walter Bryant, an area jazz musician, and Assistant Director Kent Rausch, created specifically for the Wildcat Jazz Ensemble; and,
WHEREAS, Tim has been a member of the music faculty of the Blue Springs School District for six years and was appointed Music Director of Bands for Blue Springs High School in 2000; and,
WHEREAS, he directs the Golden Regiment Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, both sessions of the Freshmen Band, Wildcat Jazz Ensemble, Pep Band, and coaches small group solo/ensembles, as well as oversees the administrative aspects of the Band Department; and,
WHEREAS, Kent Rausch has served as Assistant Director of Bands at Blue Springs High School for ten years, and is an active part of all aspects of the Blue Springs Band Program; and,
WHEREAS, Kent in his eighteenth year of teaching, also serves as percussion instructor at Blue Springs High School, directing the award-winning Golden Regiment, Drumline, and 20-30 solos and ensembles during the spring semester; and,
WHEREAS, the Wildcat Jazz Ensemble deserves the highest praise and recognition for its exemplary performance during the Missouri Music Educators Association State Convention; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates the Blue Springs High School Wildcat Jazz Ensemble upon its selection as the only jazz ensemble in the state to perform at this year’s Missouri Music Educators Association State Convention.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
