Body
WHEREAS, Louise J. Arterbery was appointed to the Jackson County Commission on Human Relations and Citizens Complaints on December 18, 1989, where she has represented the Fourth Legislative District from 1989 to 1995, and the Second Legislative District from 1995 to 1996; and,
WHEREAS, since the creation of the Commission in 1973, Commissioner Arterbery is the only appointee who has served for seven years; and,
WHEREAS, Commissioner Arterbery has lived in Kansas City, Missouri since 1971; and,
WHEREAS, Commissioner Arterbery is married to Karl J. Arterbery and is the mother of two children, Charlene Jones and Aruthel Jones; and,
WHEREAS, she is a long time active member of St. James United Methodist Church, pastored by the Reverend Emanual Cleaver, where she has volunteered her time and talents; and,
WHEREAS, Commissioner Arterbery is currently the Chairperson of the Board of Metro Towers, Inc., which owns and operates the LaJardin 56 housing complex for the elderly; and,
WHEREAS, she was recognized by the Missouri Lottery as a real winner in business as proprietor of Louise's Creme DeLa Creme in 1989; and,
WHEREAS, Commissioner Arterbery has served as a member of the Food Service Committee for the Youth Task Force of the Full Employment Council; and,
WHEREAS, she is currently the proprietor of LJA Enterprise, Inc., a food speciality restaurant business located at Kansas City International Airport, which has been recognized as a minority retail firm during Kansas City Minority Business Enterprise Development Week in 1989; and,
WHEREAS, Commissioner Arterbery has been recognized by civic and community leaders as a person who has made a positive impact on her community; and,
WHEREAS, Commissioner Arterbery's seven years of service to the citizens of Jackson County, Missouri, as well as her contributions and public service furthering human relations, have been exemplary; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes Commissioner Louise J. Arterbery for her seven years of service on the Jackson County Human Relations and Citizens Complaints Commission.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
