IN THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE OF JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI Title A RESOLUTION authorizing the Chair of the Jackson County Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fiscal Commission to execute an agreement with The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce for the continuation of the Drugs Don't Work program in the amount of $30,000.00, on the recommendation of the Jackson County Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fiscal Commission. Intro RESOLUTION #10819, May 9, 1995 INTRODUCED BY Lisa White Hardwick, County Legislator Body WHEREAS, the Jackson County Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fiscal Commission was empowered by Ordinances 1771, 1795, and 1941 to make recommendations to the Legislature for the expenditure of Anti-Drug Sales Tax Funds for the purposes of treatment and rehabilitation of drug offenders; and, WHEREAS, the County Legislature authorized grant matching funds through Ordinance 2373; and, WHEREAS, the Fiscal Commission has reviewed a proposal from The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce for its "Drugs Don't Work" program; and, WHEREAS, the "Drugs Don't Work" program attempts to assist businesses, especially small to medium-sized businesses, in implementing drug-free workplace programs and policies, thereby reducing the demand for illicit drugs; and, WHEREAS, this program is a collaborative effort involving several community organizations, including the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association; and, WHEREAS, the "Drugs Don't Work" staff provide services in implementing and coordinating policies aimed at reducing substance abuse; and, WHEREAS, the "Drugs Don't Work" program receives private funding from several agencies, including Sprint and Project NeighborHOOD; and, WHEREAS, the Fiscal Commission has carefully reviewed this 1995 proposal from The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce; and, WHEREAS, the Fiscal Commission has recommended funding in the amount of $30,000 from the Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund for the "Drugs Don't Work" proposal; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Chair of the Fiscal Commission is hereby authorized to execute the attached agreement, a copy of which is incorporated herein by reference, with The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Manager of the Division of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the Agreement. Attorney Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
