Body
WHEREAS, the Lee's Summit R-7 School District has been recognized by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) with nine schools appearing on the MAP Top 10 list, which ranks schools based on the percentage of students scoring at the proficient and advanced levels on the statewide academic assessment tests; and,
WHEREAS, there is currently a pool of 565 high schools, 340 middle schools, and 1,253 elementary schools participating in the MAP statewide assessment tests; and,
WHEREAS, the Top 10 list includes a category for each grade level tested in communication arts and math, and is further divided into three categories according to student enrollment figures; and,
WHEREAS, R-7 elementary schools earning the Top 10 distinction in the fourth grade math category are Cedar Creek, Hazel Grove, and Highland Park; and,
WHEREAS, R-7 middle schools earning the Top 10 distinction in the eighth grade math category are Bernard Campbell Middle School, Pleasant Lea Middle School, and Summit Lakes Middle School; and,
WHEREAS, R-7 high schools earning the Top 10 distinction in the tenth grade math category are Lee's Summit North High School, Lee's Summit High School, and Lee's Summit West High School; and,
WHEREAS, this is the first time that all six Lee's Summit R-7 secondary schools have made the MAP Top 10 list; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates the Lee's Summit R-7 School District upon its outstanding achievements in educational assessment performance and recognizes the staff, faculty, and students for their efforts in the pursuit of excellence in education.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
