Body
WHEREAS, on November 10, 1999, the Lee's Summit North High School's National Honor Society, made up of 170 members, became one of ten recipients of the national Outstanding Service Project award, given by the National Honor Society/National Junior Honor Society at its annual national conference; and,
WHEREAS, judging criteria for this prestigious award was based on student and community involvement, originality, and success in project goals; and,
WHEREAS, Lee's Summit North's program focuses on Lee's Summit children who require special care; and,
WHEREAS, the students run two shifts of play time for the children one Saturday each month, with planned activities such as coloring, playing basketball, or bouncing on trampolines; and,
WHEREAS, these students are to be commended for their participation in this special project and for giving of their time; and,
WHEREAS, warm and sincere appreciation go out to Lee's Summit North's National Honor Society students for their outstanding support of such a worthwhile endeavor; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Lee's Summit North High School's National Honor Society for earning the national Outstanding Service Project award, and wishes them success in their continued involvement with special needs children.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
