Body
WHEREAS, Steve Morgan is being honored by the American Sons of Columbus and the American Daughters of Columbus as the Columbian of the Year on October 12, 2008; and,
WHEREAS, Steve began his career when he walked into Wornall Bank in 1973, filled out an application, and was hired on the spot; and,
WHEREAS, Steve has continued his career in banking, now working as the Executive Vice President, Chief Lending Officer, and Secretary of Central Bank of Kansas City, where he supervises the lending personnel and is responsible for the oversight of a corporate lending portfolio in excess of $100 million and a personal lending portfolio of more than $23 million; and,
WHEREAS, Steve is involved in many facets of the banking industry, as a member of the Board of Directors of Central Bankcorp and as a member of several banking committees, including Strategic Planning, Loan and Discount, Funds Management, Asset Liability, Investments, Compliance, Executive Budget, and Central Banc Financial Services; and,
WHEREAS, Steve is also very involved in giving back to the community, as a board member of Old Northeast, Inc., a member of the St. John Corridor Association Advisory Committee, and as a former member of the First Step Fund; and,
WHEREAS, Steve's wife, Jeanne, is the Judicial Administrative Assistant for Judge Jay Daugherty in Division 13, and his sister-in-law is Mary Jo Spino, Clerk of the Legislature; and,
WHEREAS, Jeanne, their sixteen year old daughter Alexandria, and Steve's other family and friends celebrate with Steve as he is honored as the Columbian of the Year; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes and honors Steve Morgan as the 2008 Columbian of the Year.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
