AN ORDINANCE partially rescinding Ordinance 5883 dated October 7, 2024, transferring $160,000.00 within the Anti-Crime Sales Tax Fund and appropriating $350,447.00 from the undesignated fund balance of the 2024 Anti-Crime Sales Tax Grant Fund, in acceptance of the 2024 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant awarded to the Jackson County Drug Task Force.

Body
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, has awarded the Jackson County Drug Task Force a 2023 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistant Grant (JAG) /2025 State Drug Task Force Grant in the amount of $350,447.00, for the period July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025; and,
WHEREAS, the JAG program is administered by the Missouri Department of Public Safety; and,
WHEREAS, the grant proceeds will provide partial funding for the salaries of five detectives; and,
WHEREAS, the JAG grant is subject to a local funding match in the amount of $160,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, an appropriation and transfer are necessary in order to place the grant and matching funds in the proper spending accounts; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following transfers within and appropriation from the undesignated fund balance of the Grant Fund be and hereby are made:

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the County Executive and any and all other County officials be and hereby are authorized to execute any and all documents necessary to the acceptance of the 2024 JAG grant.
