A RESOLUTION expressing the support of the Legislature for the expansion of the Middle Big Creek Sub-District of the Little Blue Valley Sewer District and the provision of wastewater collection and treatment facilities to serve the expanded area within southeast Jackson County and northeast Cass County and the cities of Lee's Summit, Raymore, Lake Lotawana, Greenwood, Lake Winnebago, and Pleasant Hill.

Body
WHEREAS, the staff of the Little Blue Valley Sewer District recommends that the district expand its Middle Big Creek Sub-District; and,
WHEREAS, the expanded Middle Big Creek Sub-District will serve portions of southeast Jackson County, northeast Cass County, Lee's Summit, and Raymore, and all of the cities of Greenwood, Lake Winnebago, and Pleasant Hill; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of these entities to have or continue to have the Little Blue Valley Sewer District provide wastewater collection and treatment to serve the expanded Middle Big Creek Sub-District; and,
WHEREAS, growth in southeast Jackson County and northeast Cass County in both the existing and proposed expanded Middle Big Creek Sub-District justifies the need for improved wastewater collection and treatment facilities and the Little Blue Valley Sewer District is desirous of extending its current boundaries to include these growth areas; and,
WHEREAS, a regional approach to provide needed wastewater collection and treatment facilities is recommended by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature supports the expansion of the Middle Big Creek Sub-District and further supports the request to use Missouri Department of Natural Resources State Revolving Fund financing to construct the necessary wastewater collection and treatment facilities to provide sewer service to the expanded Middle Big Creek Sub-District.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
