IN THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE OF JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI Title A RESOLUTION recognizing Joseph M. Rodriguez for having completed an eight-week training session sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice in connection with the Break and Build program. Intro RESOLUTION # 11865, August 25, 1997 INTRODUCED BY Carl W. Bussey, County Legislator Body WHEREAS, Joseph M. Rodriguez, a senior conciliation specialist with the Community Relations Service, has been with the U.S. Department of Justice since 1978; and, WHEREAS, Mr. Rodriguez' duties as a conciliation specialist, consists of mediating racial and ethnic disputes in Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas; and, WHEREAS, Mr. Rodriguez has not only mediated a number of disputes involving minority groups and law enforcement agencies, but has also been instrumental in resolving numerous race-related disputes in secondary schools; and, WHEREAS, Mr. Rodriguez has been commended by the Community Relations Service for his work in developing student teams in schools to prevent racial disruption; and, WHEREAS, Mr. Rodriguez has taken on a new challenge by completing an eight-week training session sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice in connection with the Break and Build program; and, WHEREAS, the Break and Build program is a youth-driven organization whose primary purpose is to provide viable alternatives for African-American and Latin American young men and women who have been involved in street gangs and gang-related activities; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes Joseph M. Rodriguez for his participation in the Break and Build program sponsored through the Department of Justice, and wishes to convey its appreciation to him for his devotion to the task of positively redirecting the lives of young people. Attorney Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
