Body
WHEREAS, since 1989, the University of Kansas School of Nursing has recognized the contributions of outstanding registered nurses to their patients, communities, and profession; and,
WHEREAS, one of this year's recipients of this prestigious award is Sherry Potts, a registered nurse at Lee's Summit Hospital; and,
WHEREAS, Sherry was chosen for this award because of the outstanding work she has accomplished in her profession during the last 25 years; and,
WHEREAS, Sherry currently works as a charge nurse in the emergency room at Lee's Summit Hospital; and,
WHEREAS, she also serves as a part-time teacher, educating nursing students on new products, techniques, and changes in hospital policy; and,
WHEREAS, during her spare time, Sherry plants flowers and conducts tours at Powell Gardens, teaches students about the consequences of driving under the influence, rings bells at her church, and serves as a member of an investment club, a book club with co-workers at Lee's Summit Hospital, and the Lee's Summit Garden Club; and,
WHEREAS, Sherry and her husband, Greg, have three children, Leah, Mike, and Joe, and one granddaughter, Lauren; and,
WHEREAS, respect and admiration go out to Sherry for her many years of providing quality health care and educational assistance to the people she has touched during her nursing career; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Sherry Potts upon receiving The Heart of Healthcare award from the University of Kansas School of Nursing and for her many contributions to her patients, profession, and community.
