IN THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE OF JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI

AN ORDINANCE appropriating $50,000.00 from the unappropriated surplus of the 1995 General Fund and authorizing the County Executive to execute an Agreement with the Jackson County Historical Society, for the purpose of preserving and archiving certain County records, at a cost to the County not to exceed $50,000.00.

Body
WHEREAS, the County currently possess numerous public records which it is not required by law to maintain but which, nonetheless, might have certain historical value to scholars and members of the public; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the County that records having historical value be preserved and professionally archived for the use of scholars and citizens of the County; and,
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Historical Society maintains and operates an archives in Independence, and is capable of professionally archiving historical records and making them accessible to interested persons; and,
WHEREAS, the County desires to retain the Society to perform these services; and,
WHEREAS, the attached Agreement adequately sets out the rights and obligations of the parties; and,
WHEREAS, in order to fund the County's obligations under this Agreement, an appropriation is necessary; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation be and hereby is made form the unappropriated surplus of the 1995 General Fund:

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the County Executive, be and hereby is authorized to execute the attached Agreement with the Jackson County Historical Society; and,
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the Manager of the Division of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the Agreement.

Effective Date: This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its signature by the County Executive.
