A RESOLUTION congratulating the Lee's Summit West High School girls cross country team upon winning its fourth consecutive state championship.

Body
WHEREAS, the Lee's Summit West High School girls cross country team won its fourth consecutive state championship with 52 team points, outdistancing second place West Plains by 66 points; and,
WHEREAS, with their four title wins, the Titans have won with an average of 59.25 team points, and an average margin of victory of 65.25 points, and were ranked as high as 35th in the nation by ESPN; and,
WHEREAS, the Lady Titans are the only Missouri Class 4 girls cross country team to ever win more than two state championships in a row, and were undefeated against Missouri competition for the third consecutive year; and,
WHEREAS, senior team members Chelsey Phoebus, Alex Moase, and Johanna Kleinsasser have been a part of each of the four title wins; and,
WHEREAS, Chelsey and Alex were joined by team members Kierstan West and Kennadee Williams in being named all-state; and,
WHEREAS, the Lady Titans' other team members include Karen Brocket, Elizabeth Nolke, Olivia Chapman, Bailey Horlander, and Megan McFarland; and,
WHEREAS, the Titans were led by head coach Jesse Griffin and assistant coaches Matt Turner and Christy Dabalos; and,
WHEREAS, Coach Griffin said of the team's fourth victory, "You just have to continue to stay humble and keep doing the things that are required to be successful;" now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates the Lee's Summit West High School girls cross country team on its prestigious showing and extends sincere best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
