A RESOLUTION congratulating Rachel Grogan upon her recent selection for the 2003 Missouri Scholars 100.

RESOLUTION # 14625,   June 9, 2003

 

INTRODUCED BY Bob Spence, County Legislator

 

Body                                                                                    

WHEREAS, Rachel Grogan, a senior at Lee's Summit High School, was recently nominated by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals as one of Missouri's top 100 academic students in the graduating class of 2003; and,

 

WHEREAS, nominated students ranked in the top 10 percent of their class with upper-level courses in mathematics, english, science, and foreign language, and met the criteria of an "Academic Decathlon," which included 10 "events" designed to assure academic strength; and,

 

WHEREAS, nominees needed a minimum grade point average of 3.57 and a minimum ACT score of 29 or a minimum SAT score of 1,300; and,

 

WHEREAS, excellent attendance and involvement with school and community activities were also considered in the criteria for nomination; and,

                                                                                                                                                                                                                  

WHEREAS, Rachel's scholastic achievements include: International Baccalaureate Certificate Candidate, Student Senate member, National Honor Society, and selection to the Missouri Scholar's Academy; and,

 

WHEREAS, her extracurricular activities include Youth in Government and Varsity Cheerleading captain; and,

 

WHEREAS, Rachel's future plans are to attend the University of Missouri at Columbia as an English major; and,

 

WHEREAS, she deserves the highest of praise for her many academic accomplishments; therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Rachel Grogan upon being named among the Missouri Scholars 100, and wishes her success in her future endeavors.

 

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
