Body
WHEREAS, by Resolution 11041, dated December 4, 1995, a contract for the furnishing of a marina platform and bridge for use by the Parks and Recreation Department at the Jacomo Marina was awarded to Galva Foam Marine Industries, Inc., of Camdenton, MO, in the actual amount of $57,705.87; and,
WHEREAS, an increase to this contract is necessary as there are three additional items needed for the marina platform and bridge (platform anchoring, handrail with rope, and floor insulation) at an additional cost of $9,953.00, in order to properly complete the installation of the platform and bridge; and,
WHEREAS, Section 1040.1 of the Jackson County Code, 1984, eliminates the requirement for competitive bidding when items to be purchased can be obtained from only one source; and,
WHEREAS, Section 1063.00 of the Code requires notification of and approval by the Legislature on such sole source purchases exceeding $5,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director further recommends that he not take competitive bids with regard to this contract for the reason that Galva Foam Marine Industries, Inc., of Camdenton, MO, is the exclusive supplier of the items needed to complete the installation of the platform; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the increase to the contract be made as recommended by the Purchasing Director, and that the Purchasing Director be, and is hereby, authorized to execute for the County any documents necessary to the accomplishment of the increase; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the contract.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
