WHEREAS, Urban American Outdoors is preparing to host its 25th Anniversary Meet & Greet, Conference and Gala celebrating the continuing success of Urban American Outdoors TV show and business based in Kansas City; and,
WHEREAS, the Urban American Outdoors Meet & Greet event is scheduled to take place on Friday, October 13, 2023, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum at 1616 East 18th Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64108; and,
WHEREAS, the Urban American Outdoors conference known as the Urban Outdoor Summit event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 9:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. at the Loews Kansas City Hotel at 1515 Wyandotte Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64108; and,
WHEREAS, the Urban American Outdoors 25th Anniversary Gala is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 6:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. at the Buck O’Neil Education and Research Center at 1824 Paseo, Kansas City, Missouri 64108; and,
WHEREAS, the event will include host and producer Wayne Hubbard and CEO and Co-Founder Candice Price of Urban American Outdoors along with guest speakers Elrand Denson of the U.S. Forest Service, Arthur Phalo of the U.S. Forest Service, Mathias Wallace of the U.S. Forest Service, Dr. Mamie Parker of Parker and Associates, Tylar Greene of NASA, John Hall of Dreamspan Product Innnovation, and others; and,
WHEREAS, this event is an opportunity for attendees to gain knowledge of the management of their public lands, waterways, climate, youth engagement, conservation, environmental and social justice; and,
WHEREAS, the Urban American Outdoors 25th Anniversary Gala is in support of fundraising for 501c3 SODAS Life, Inc. which stands for Saving Our Daughters and Sons Life a public charity whose mission is to engage and educate diverse, under-served, and under-represented youth and young adults to develop and foster enthusiastic and responsible preservation, conservation, and environmental skills so they may become social stewards, advocates or employed in the natural resource areas and create healthy lifestyles; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature wholeheartedly recognizes and supports the 25th Anniversary of Urban American Outdoors Meet & Greet, Conference and Gala event, acknowledging its profound significance in honoring Kansas City's natural spaces, and in advancing the cause of connecting communities to Nature, Conservation and Environmental Social Justice.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
