INTRODUCED BY  Manuel Abarca IV, Jeanie Lauer, Megan L. Marshall, Jalen Anderson, Donna Peyton, Venessa Huskey, Charlie Franklin, DaRon McGee, and Sean E. Smith, County Legislators

 

 

Body

 WHEREAS, Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, who brought joy and love to all who knew her, was tragically killed in a senseless act of violence at Kansas City’s Union Station following the Championship Rally celebrating the Kansas City Chiefs' victory in Super Bowl LVIII; and,

 

WHEREAS, Lisa, a lifelong resident of Kansas City’s West Side neighborhood and a graduate of Bishop Miege High School, was a cherished member of the Hispanic community, known for her vibrant personality, kindness, and devotion to her family and friends; and,

 

WHEREAS, Lisa was well-known in the area as a disc jockey and co-host of the "Taste of Tejano" program on community radio station KKFI, where she shared her passion for Hispanic music and culture with listeners across the region; and,

 

WHEREAS, Lisa’s untimely passing has left a void in the lives of her loving husband of 22 years, Mike Galvan, her daughter Adriana, her son Marc, her brothers, Beto, and Luther, her sister Carmen, their parents, Heriberto (Beto) and Ana Margo, and extended family, as well as in the hearts of countless friends and admirers; and,

 

WHEREAS, Lisa will be remembered for her infectious spirit, her unwavering love for her family, her zest for life, and her ability to brighten any room with her presence; and,

 

WHEREAS, Lisa's legacy of love, compassion, and community service will continue to inspire us all to cherish each moment and to strive for a more peaceful and united society; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that the Legislature hereby honors the life and memory of Lisa Lopez-Galvan and expresses its deepest gratitude for her contributions to our community and heartfelt condolences and sympathy to her family and friends.

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
