A RESOLUTION recognizing and honoring Ability KC in observance of Disability Independence Day and for more than seventy-five years of empowering children and adults with complex illnesses, injuries, and disabilities through exceptional rehabilitation, education, and vocational services.

Body

 WHEREAS, Disability Independence Day, observed annually on July 26, commemorates the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, landmark civil rights legislation affirming the rights, dignity, independence, and inclusion of individuals with disabilities; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Jackson County Legislature proudly recognizes Disability Independence Day by honoring Ability KC whose work continues to advance the promise and principles of the ADA; and,

 

WHEREAS, for more than seventy-five years, Ability KC has remained dedicated to building brighter futures for children and adults with complex illnesses, injuries, and disabilities through comprehensive medical, educational, and vocational services; and,

 

WHEREAS, Ability KC is a nationally recognized leader in outpatient rehabilitation and value-based care, delivering innovative, person-centered services that improve long-term outcomes and enhance quality of life; and,

 

WHEREAS, Ability KC has earned accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and designation as a Comprehensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Facility by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, reflecting its commitment to excellence, innovation, and high-quality care; and,

 

WHEREAS, through its comprehensive continuum of services, Ability KC empowers individuals to successfully participate in their homes, schools, workplaces, and communities, promoting independence, inclusion, self-sufficiency, and expanded opportunities for people of all abilities; and,

 

WHEREAS, the leadership, staff, volunteers, and supporters of Ability KC have made an immeasurable impact on thousands of individuals and families, strengthening the Kansas City region through compassion, innovation, and service; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes and honors Ability KC in observance of Disability Independence Day.

 

 

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date: This resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
