Body
WHEREAS, the Kansas City Rescue Mission was established in 1950 to address the needs of poor, struggling, and homeless men in metropolitan Kansas City, Missouri, in Jackson County's 1st District; and,
WHEREAS, over the past sixty years, thousands of homeless men have been offered emergency food, shelter, and clothing, as well as medical, spiritual, educational, and vocational services to begin a restorative journey of hope; and,
WHEREAS, hundreds of men have achieved life recovery from drug and alcohol addictions, and through transitional living services have returned to live successfully in our community; and,
WHEREAS, the outreach, services, and ministries of the Kansas City Rescue Mission have continued to grow as a respected and valued Jackson County resource under the determination, integrity, and leadership of Reverend Joe Colaizzi; and,
WHEREAS, January 28, 2010, marks the twenty-fifth year of Rev. Joe Colaizzi's service as executive director of the Kansas City Rescue Mission; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Kansas City Rescue Mission on the occasion of its 60th Anniversary, and expresses sincere gratitude for their tireless efforts and noble work in providing for the needs of Kansas City's poor and homeless.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
