Body
WHEREAS, the Lee's Summit R-7 "Kids Country" before and after-school care program recently received the Leadership Award from Kids Included Together; and,
WHEREAS, Kids Included Together is a national organization dedicated to providing learning opportunities that support recreation, child-development and youth-enrichment programs for children with and without disabilities; and,
WHEREAS, the Leadership Award is the organization's highest honor and goes to just one affiliate organization each year; and,
WHEREAS, the Lee's Summit R-7 "Kids Country" program has a long history of service to children and youth, working to ensure that children with disabilities can participate in all of its programs; and,
WHEREAS, in winning the award, "Kids Country" was praised for being a leader within the community and for working to spread the philosophy of inclusion; and,
WHEREAS, "Kids Country" employees participate in comprehensive staff development training, many of which are aimed at helping staff members care for students with special needs; and,
WHEREAS, in 2009, "Kids Country" won the National Affiliate Award from Kids Included Together, demonstrating its commitment to continually striving to offer the best programs for Lee's Summit children; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes the Lee's Summit R-7 "Kids Country" program for its prestigious honor of receiving the Leadership Award from Kids Included Together.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
