AN ORDINANCE repealing Ordinance 2733, dated September 8, 1997, appropriating $10,000.00 from the unappropriated surplus of the 1997 General Fund, and authorizing the County Executive to execute a contract with the Kansas City Museum relating to its "If I Had a Hammer" program, at a cost to the County not to exceed $10,000.00.

Body
WHEREAS, the Kansas City Museum has requested funding for its "If I Had a Hammer" program, in the amount of $10,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, under this program, students are taught basic skills in math, problem solving, critical thinking, and teamwork, as applied to the construction of a small building; and,
WHEREAS, the funding of this program is in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of the County; and,
WHEREAS, in order to fund this program, an appropriation from the unappropriated surplus of the 1997 General Fund is necessary; and,
WHEREAS, the County Executive has recommended this appropriation as an amendment to her 1997 recommended Jackson County Budget; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation be and hereby is made from the unappropriated surplus of the 1997 General Fund:

Kansas City Museum Outside Agencies $10,000
and,
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute a contract with the Kansas City Museum regarding its "If I Had a Hammer" program, in a form to be approved by the County Counselor, at a cost to the County not to exceed $10,000.00; and,
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the Director of the Department of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make all payments including final payment on the contract; and,
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that Ordinance 2733, dated September 8, 1997, which was disapproved as to form by the County Counselor, be and hereby is repealed. Attorney
Effective Date: This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its signature by the County Executive.
