Body

WHEREAS, on June 10,1992, Jackson County adopted Ordinance 2101, enacting Chapter 54, Jackson County Code, 1984, which contains the building code for the unincorporated area of the County and provisions for the issuance of permits and collection of fees; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works has been authorized since 1992 to utilize agreements with several local fire protection districts to provide plan review and fire and safety inspection services required pursuant to Chapter 54; and,

 

WHEREAS, due to the increased volume of residential and commercial improvements in the unincorporated area of the County, the Department of Public Works has proposed a comprehensive plan for conducting plan reviews required under the current building code and the creation of two (2) Building Inspector positions within the Department; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Central Jackson County, Fort Osage, Lake Lotawana, Lone Jack, Prairie Township and Sni-Valley Fire Protection Districts Central Jackson County have agreed to modification of the existing agreements consistent with the comprehensive plan; and,

WHEREAS, the comprehensive plan and the modification of the existing agreements is necessary to provide a more efficient and effective program for insuring minimum building standards to safeguard life, health, property and public welfare within the unincorporated area of the County; and,

 

WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the County and the Central Jackson County, Fort Osage, Lake Lotawana, Lone Jack, Prairie Township and Sni-Valley Fire Protection Districts that the districts perform commercial plan review for fire and safety issues and  fire and safety inspection services as agreed utilizing existing staff, as agents of the County, as is more fully set out in the attached modified agreements; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be, and is hereby, authorized to execute the attached agreements with the Central Jackson County, Fort Osage, Lake Lotawana, Lone Jack, Prairie Township and Sni-Valley Fire Protection Districts on behalf of the County.

 

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
