Title
A RESOLUTION rescinding Resolution 10608, dated January 17, 1995, and awarding a contract
for the furnishing of officiating services for the 1995-96 Jackson County Softball and Basketball
Leagues for use by the Parks and Recreation Department to Sports Officials Association of
Shawnee, Kansas, at a cost to the County not to exceed $158,000.00, as a sole source purchase.

RESOLUTION #10733, March 20, 1995 INTRODUCED BY Fred Arbanas, County Legislator
Body WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution 10608, dated January 17, 1995, the Purchasing
Director executed a contract with Sports Officials Association of Shawnee, Kansas, for the
furnishing of officiating services for the 1995-96 Jackson County Softball and Basketball
Leagues for use by the Parks and Recreation Department, as a sole source purchase; and,
WHEREAS, a misunderstanding between the Parks and Recreation Department and the Sports
Officials Association of Overland Park, KS, occurred as to the 1996 schedule of fees so that an
incorrect schedule was listed in the contract; and,
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director recommends a modified contract containing the corrected
1996 schedule of fees with Sports Officials Association of Shawnee, Kansas, for the furnishing
of officiating services for the 1995-96 Jackson County Softball and Basketball Leagues for use
by the Parks and Recreation Department; and,
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director further recommends that it not take competitive bids with
regard to said contract for the reason that Sports Officials Association of Shawnee, Kansas, is the
only supplier of officiating services for 1995-96 Softball and Basketball Leagues in the Kansas
Ci y metropolitan area meeting the necessary requirements; and,
WHEREAS, with the adoption of this Resolution, it is appropriate that Resolution 10608, dated
January 17, 1995, be rescinded, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Purchasing
Director be, and hereby is, authorized to execute for the County a contract with Sports Officials
Association of Shawnee, Kansas, for the furnishing of officiating services for the 1995-96
Jackson County Softball and Basketball Leagues for the Parks and Recreation Department, in an
amount not to exceed $158,000.00; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the manager of the Division of Finance is authorized to
make all payments including final payment on the contract thereby made; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Resolution 10608 dated January 17, 1995, be and hereby is
rescinded.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of
the Legislature.
