RESOLUTION NO. 21758, October 7, 2024

 

INTRODUCED BY Manuel Abarca IV, County Legislator

 

 

Body

 WHEREAS, the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) was founded in 1975 to promote the health and well-being of Hispanic communities, advance nursing education, and provide leadership development for Hispanic nurses; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Kansas City Chapter of NAHN has been a key advocate for addressing healthcare disparities, advancing cultural competence in nursing, and ensuring that the unique healthcare needs of the Latino community are met; and,

 

WHEREAS, healthcare workers of Latino heritage across Jackson County have played a critical role in the health and wellness of our communities, bringing invaluable language and cultural skills that foster trust and understanding between patients and medical professionals; and,

 

WHEREAS, the contributions of Latino nurses, physicians, technicians, and all healthcare workers in Jackson County have been especially vital in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, providing tireless care, and acting as essential workers during a time of unprecedented healthcare challenges; and,

 

WHEREAS, the dedication and service of Latino healthcare workers have not only contributed to improving public health outcomes but also have helped build stronger, more resilient communities across the region; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Kansas City Chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses exemplifies the importance of fostering educational opportunities, professional development, and support networks for Hispanic Nurses, thus empowering them to serve as leaders in healthcare and beyond; and, 

 

WHEREAS, Jackson County recognizes and celebrates the achievements of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses - Kansas City Chapter, and honors the invaluable contributions of Latino healthcare workers across Jackson County for their unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of our community; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that this resolution stands as a symbol of deep appreciation for the role these healthcare professionals play in improving the quality of life for all residents, and a call to continue supporting the growth and development of Latino healthcare workers across our county and nation.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
