A RESOLUTION awarding a contract on Bid No. 90-00 for the Independence Courthouse Annex Ground Floor Renovation Project to Jenkins and Associates of Shawnee Mission, KS, in the actual amount of $684,000.00, and authorizing the County Executive to approve additional expenditures under this contract at a cost not to exceed $34,200.00, for a total amount not to exceed $718,200.00.

Body
WHEREAS, the Director of Purchasing has solicited formal written bids on Bid No. 90-00 for the for the Independence Courthouse Annex Ground Floor Renovation Project; and,
WHEREAS, he has received as the lowest three bids thereon bids from the following:
VENDOR BID
Jenkins and Associates $684,000.00
Shawnee Mission, KS
N. W. Rogers Construction $709,640.00
Blue Springs, MO
Howell Construction $716,000.00
Kansas City (Jackson County), MO
and,
WHEREAS, he has recommended that award be made to Jenkins and Associates of Shawnee Mission, KS, for the reason that its is the lowest and best bid submitted; and,
WHEREAS, in the event that change orders to the contract become necessary, it is appropriate that the County Executive be given authority to approve additional expenditures under this contract not to exceed $34,200.00, which is 5% of the contract amount; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that award be made as recommended by the Director of Purchasing, and that the Director of Purchasing be, and is hereby, authorized to execute for the County any documents necessary to the accomplishment of the award; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Executive is authorized to approve additional expenditures which may become necessary under this contract in an amount not to exceed $34,200.00; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Manager of the Division of Finance is authorized to make all payments, except final payment on the contract.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
