Body

WHEREAS, Pastor Daniel Roberson was born on May 28, 1937, in Kennedy, Texas, to Superintendent Vernette and Missionary Gertha Roberson; and,

 

WHEREAS, Pastor Roberson grew up a "PK" (Pastor's Kid), has been in the church all his life, and was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost in 1953; and,

 

WHEREAS, Pastor Roberson has worked in every department of the church, serving as a Sunday school teacher, youth leader, choir member, janitor, and driver; and,

 

WHEREAS, in July 1961, Pastor Roberson became a licensed minister and in July 1970 was ordained an Elder; and,

 

WHEREAS, Pastor Roberson was appointed Pastor of Refugio Church of God in Christ, where he built a new church and changed the name to Saints Memorial Church of God in Christ; and,

 

WHEREAS, Pastor Roberson served as a Co-Pastor with his father at the Greater Shiloh Church of God in Christ until July 12, 1978, when he was appointed Pastor; and,

 

WHEREAS, Pastor Roberson served as Assistant State Sunday School Superintendent for four years, State Youth Workshop teacher for eight years, and District Youth President of the Corpus Christi District for seven years; and,

 

WHEREAS, Pastor Roberson has served the Church of God in Christ National Adjutant for the past 35 years; and,

 

WHEREAS, Bishop A.L. Thomas appointed Pastor Roberson as the Pastor and Superintendent of Faith Mission Church of God in Christ in 1987; and,

 

WHEREAS, Pastor Roberson organized Shiloh Institutional Church of God in Christ in Kansas City, Missouri, in May 1987, where he was later appointed superintendent of the Corpus Christi District; and,

 

WHEREAS, Bishop Emmanuel Newton appointed Pastor Roberson as Administrative Assistant and District Superintendent of the Progressive District in the Missouri Western Jurisdiction in Kansas City, Missouri; therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Pastor Daniel Roberson on his 20th Pastoral Anniversary and extends sincere gratitude for his contributions to the Jackson County community.

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
