A RESOLUTION in honor of Women’s History Month recognition of Bridgette Williams, a trailblazer in community leadership and in the construction industry.

RESOLUTION NO. 21896, March 31, 2025

 

INTRODUCED BY DaRon McGee and Donna Peyton, County Legislators

 

Body

 WHEREAS, Ms. Williams was the first black woman to lead the The Heavy Constructors Association of Greater Kansas City (HCA) holding this position for fifteen years; and,

 

WHEREAS, HCA is one of the most powerful and influential groups in the metro Kansas City, Missouri, area, Ms. Williams worked with the organization for eight years, leading major construction projects such as the new airport terminal at Kansas City International Airport and the Panasonic plant in De Soto, Kansas; and,

 

WHEREAS, Ms. Williams is an advocate for the blue collar industry and worked for nearly twenty years with the Greater Kansas City chapter of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO); and,

 

WHEREAS, Ms. Williams has been an advocate for the underrepresented in the construction industry and believes it is important for younger generations to be exposed to and work in the construction industry; now therefore,

 

 BE IT RESOLVED that the Jackson County Legislature hereby honors Bridgette Williams for her trailblazing contributions to community, leadership, and the construction industry.

 

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
