IN THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE OF JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI Title A RESOLUTION authorizing the Chair of the Jackson County Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fiscal Commission to enter into a Grant Agreement with Children's Mercy Hospital for the continuation of the Safety Assistance in Family Emergencies Teams for Youth Endangered by Substance Abuse program (Safe-TYES) in the amount of $88,235.00, on the recommendation of the Jackson County Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fiscal Commission. Intro RESOLUTION #10810, May 1, 1995 INTRODUCED BY Lisa White Hardwick, County Legislator Body WHEREAS, the Jackson County Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fiscal Commission was empowered by Ordinances 1771, 1795, and 1941 to make recommendations to the Legislature for the expenditure of Anti-Drug Sales Tax Funds for the purposes of treatment and rehabilitation of drug offenders; and, WHEREAS, the County Legislature authorized grant matching funds through Ordinance 2373; and, WHEREAS, the Fiscal Commission has reviewed a proposal from (Safe-TYES) Children's Mercy Hospital for its Safety Assistance in Family Emergencies Teams for Youth Endangered by Substance Abuse (Safe-TYES) program; and, WHEREAS, the Safe-TYES program is a multi-agency intensive program designed for adolescents whereby at-risk youth are provided employment, self esteem guidance, and substance abuse counseling; and, WHEREAS, this program is a collaborative effort involving several community organizations, including, for example, the Full Employment Council; and, WHEREAS, Safe-TYES staff provide direct services in counseling, job skills, and substance abuse in the family; and, WHEREAS, the Safe-TYES program receives federal funding from the National Center on Child Abuse and Neglect in the amount of $500,000; and, WHEREAS, the Fiscal Commission has carefully reviewed this 1995 proposal from Children's Mercy Hospital; and, WHEREAS, the Fiscal Commission has recommended funding in the amount of $88,235 from the Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund for the Safe-TYES proposal; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Chair of the Fiscal Commission is hereby authorized to enter into the attached agreement, a copy of which is incorporated herein by reference, with Children's Mercy Hospital; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Manager of the Division of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the Agreement. Attorney Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
