Body
WHEREAS, by Resolution 16445, dated October 29, 2007, the Legislature did award a contract under Request for Proposals (RFP) 36-07 for the furnishing of group term life insurance countywide as an employee benefit to Metropolitan Life Insurance Company (MetLife) of New York, NY; and,
WHEREAS, RFP 36-07 authorized five one-year renewal options, but Resolution 16445 only awarded two one-year renewal options; and,
WHEREAS, MetLife has agreed to continue coverage at no increase in rates for three additional years of coverage; and,
WHEREAS, the Administration now recommends that MetLife Insurance Company be awarded the remaining renewal options provided in the terms and conditions of RFP No. 36-07; and,
WHEREAS, this award is made on an as needed basis and the estimated cost of $50,000.00 for 2011 will be subject to appropriation in the 2011 annual budget; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that award be made as recommended by the Administration and that the Finance and Purchasing Director be and hereby is authorized to execute for the County any documents necessary to accomplish the award to MetLife and the exercise of renewal options; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the contract, to the extent that sufficient appropriations are contained in the then current annual budget.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
