Body
WHEREAS, Lee's Summit R-7 School District superintendent Dr. David McGehee was honored October 5, 2013, by the Missouri Association of School Administrators as the "Missouri Superintendent of The Year"; and,
WHEREAS, Dr. McGehee will now represent Missouri in the National Superintendent of The Year program conducted by the American Association of School Administrators; and,
WHEREAS, as the winner of this award, Dr. McGehee receives a formal acknowledgment of his selection, a $500.00 scholarship for a student in the Lee's Summit R-7 School District, and a commemorative ring; and,
WHEREAS, the Superintendent of the Year honor is sponsored by PFM Asset Management, LLC, which is the program administrator for the Missouri Securities Investment Program; and,
WHEREAS, Dr. McGehee's recognition is based upon his leadership in the areas of student instruction, community involvement, addressing budget challenges, effective use of technology, communication, and legislative advocacy; and,
WHEREAS, Dr. McGehee has served as Lee's Summit R-7 School District superintendent since 2006 and he previously served as the superintendent of the Raymore-Peculiar and Sparta school districts; and,
WHEREAS, Dr. McGehee has worked in education since 1987, serving as a middle-school science teacher, physical-education teacher, coach, and high school principal; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Dr. David McGehee on the occasion of his recognition as Missouri Superintendent of The Year and wishes him success in all his future endeavors.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
