Body
WHEREAS, Bishop James D. Tindall is being elevated to the Senior Presiding Prelate of the Metropolitan Spiritual Churches of Christ, Inc., during the Church's 84th International Congress; and,
WHEREAS, Bishop Tindall was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on June 6, 1942, as one of twelve children of Wallace and Lottie Tindall; and,
WHEREAS, Bishop Tindall attended W.W. Yates Elementary School, is a 1960 graduate of Manual High School, and attended the University of Missouri - Kansas City, Carver Bible Institute, Western Baptist Bible College, Columbia School of Broadcasting and KPRS School of Broadcasting; and,
WHEREAS, Bishop Tindall attended the Highland Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend C. S. Stamps, and at the age of sixteen joined the Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ, where he sang in the choir, was Superintendent of the Sunday School, served on the Trustee Board, and was later called to Ministry; and,
WHEREAS, Bishop Tindall was ordained in July, 1967, and was appointed as permanent pastor of the Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ on September 24, 1976; and,
WHEREAS, Bishop Tindall was elevated to the office of Bishop by the Archbishop of the Metropolitan Spiritual Churches of Christ in November, 1996; and,
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Spiritual Churches of Christ, Inc., was founded in 1925 by Bishop William Frank Taylor and Elder Leviticus Lee Boswell, and will celebrate its 84th Church Anniversary on July 19, 2009; and,
WHEREAS, Bishop Tindall's Elevation and Consecration Service will be celebrated as part of the 84th International Congress on July 24, 2009; and,
WHEREAS, Bishop Tindall's wife of forty-one years, Frances Smith, and his six children, Janie, Tina, Sheila, James Dennis, Jr., Cheryl, and James Dennis III, as well as fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren, share in the celebration of his elevation to Senior Presiding Prelate; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes and congratulates Bishop James D. Tindall on being elevated to Senior Presiding Prelate of the Metropolitan Spiritual Churches of Christ, Inc.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
