Body
WHEREAS, the Lee's Summit Chamber of Commerce received the Missouri Chamber of the Year award on November 20, 2008; and,
WHEREAS, the Chamber also received a 4-Star Accreditation in June, 2008, from the United States Chamber of Commerce; and,
WHEREAS, the Chamber was recognized as an organization that is not satisfied with the status quo, that continues to add new services and programs for its members and the entire community, and for its outstanding programs and services offered to the Lee's Summit business community; and,
WHEREAS, the Chamber's mission is to create opportunities for business success through networking, advocacy, and business and professional development, and its vision is to be recognized as the champion for the Lee's Summit business community; and,
WHEREAS, the Chamber represents 960 business members in the metropolitan area, and is very involved with federal, state, county, and city issues affecting the business community and has been recognized for its involvement; and,
WHEREAS, the Chamber works closely with the education community, fostering collaboration between the schools and the business community; and,
WHEREAS, the Chamber annually gives scholarships to high school students, sponsors a breakfast for new teachers, honors the Teacher of the Year, and provides education programs to its members through its Recess for Success and Wake Up to Success seminars; and,
WHEREAS, with the leadership of President Nancy Bruns and 2008 Chair of the Board Tom Jackson, and the dedication, enthusiasm and commitment of its Board of Directors, volunteers, and other staff members, the Chamber is a proactive, influential metropolitan chamber; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates the Lee's Summit Chamber of Commerce upon its receipt of the 2008 Missouri Chamber of the Year award.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
