IN THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE OF JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI Title A RESOLUTION congratulating Lee's Summit Fire Chief Smokey Dyer upon his election as president of the International Association of Fire Chiefs. Intro RESOLUTION #12478, December 7, 1998 INTRODUCED BY John C. Graham and Fred Arbanas, County Legislators Body WHEREAS, Fire Chief Smokey Dyer received a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri in 1969 and then went on to receive his Master's degree in Public Services Administration from Central Missouri State University; and, WHEREAS, Chief Dyer served in the U. S. Navy as a Lieutenant from 1970-1972; and, WHEREAS, from 1973-1976, Chief Dyer was the first assistant at the Missouri State Fire Marshall's Office, and then taught fire science at Central Missouri State University from 1976-1978; and, WHEREAS, in 1978, Chief Dyer became assistant fire chief in Lee's Summit and in 1987 was promoted to chief, the position he now holds with the Lee's Summit Fire Department; and, WHEREAS, Chief Dyer has been a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs since 1979 and was elected to the Association's board in 1991, and again in 1994, representing the Missouri Valley Division; and, WHEREAS, the members of the International Association of Fire Chiefs elected Chief Dyer as their president on September 14, 1998; and, WHEREAS, Chief Dyer and his wife, Julie, have one daughter, Debbie; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Lee's Summit Fire Chief Smokey Dyer upon his election as the International Association of Fire Chiefs' President...Attorney Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
