Body
WHEREAS, Jackson County Parks and Recreation is deeply committed to providing the highest standard of programming at its nationally recognized historic sites; and,
WHEREAS, Missouri Town 1855 has, since its inception in 1965, enabled hundreds of thousands of children and adults to better understand the pleasures and hardships of our ancestors in mid 19th century Jackson County; and,
WHEREAS, the volunteer support group, Friends of Missouri Town 1855, was formed in 1976 to support programming at this important cultural asset; and,
WHEREAS, in the past twenty-five years, the Friends of Missouri Town 1855 have contributed countless hours of volunteer support; and,
WHEREAS, the association between Friends of Missouri Town 1855 and Jackson County exemplifies successful private/government partnerships; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Friends of Missouri Town 1855 on their 25th anniversary and commends their members for their efforts in making Missouri Town 1855 a significant cultural asset to the citizens of Jackson County.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
