Body
WHEREAS, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, Inc. (BNSF) is in the planning stages of a track replacement project to realign two existing main tracks and construct a third main track along a ten-mile section of land; and,
WHEREAS, BNSF has a need for an 8.5 acre tract within River Bluff Park to facilitate the track replacement project and has proposed the exchange of a 25.9 acre tract directly adjoining the park to the north as replacement property; and,
WHEREAS, River Bluff Park was acquired by the County in 1973 with U.S. Federal Land and Water Conservation funds and the transfer of a portion of this park property will require a conversion process which involves approval by both the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and the United States Department of the Interior; and,
WHEREAS, BNSF has prepared the necessary conversion documentation required for the conversion process; and,
WHEREAS, the Acting Director of Parks and Recreation recommends acceptance of the replacement property and has determined that the proposed conversion of the 8.5 acre tract and acceptance of the replacement tract will have no adverse effect to the park property; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that the Legislature fully supports the proposed conversion and conveyance of an 8.5 acre tract of park property within River Bluff Park.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
