WHEREAS, Trinity Temple Church of God in Christ is celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2026, marking a half-century of ministry, service, fellowship, and commitment to improving the lives of individuals and families throughout Jackson County and the Greater Kansas City community; and,
WHEREAS, Trinity Temple was founded in 1976 through the faith, vision, and pioneering leadership of Bishop Wellington Bernard Henderson and Lady Mary Lee Henderson, whose commitment to building a ministry rooted in faith and service established a foundation that has endured for generations; and,
WHEREAS, what began as a small congregation has grown into a vibrant church family that has touched thousands of lives through worship, Christian education, outreach, mentorship, family support, leadership development, and service to the community; and,
WHEREAS, throughout its five decades, Trinity Temple has demonstrated the important role that faith institutions play in the health and vitality of our communities by creating spaces where individuals are encouraged, families are strengthened, young people are nurtured, and neighbors are called to serve one another; and,
WHEREAS, Trinity Temple has distinguished itself through a ministry philosophy centered on “Loving People to Life,” reflecting its commitment to meeting people with compassion, encouraging them in their purpose, and empowering them to make meaningful contributions to their families and communities; and,
WHEREAS, the congregation's longevity is a testament to generations of members, clergy, ministry leaders, volunteers, families, and community partners who have faithfully invested their time, talents, resources, and service in sustaining the mission entrusted to Trinity Temple; and,
WHEREAS, under the present leadership of Bishop Benjamin Stephens III and Lady Latonya Stephens, Trinity Temple continues to honor the foundation established by its founders while expanding its vision for a multigenerational church prepared to meet the spiritual and practical needs of today's families; and,
WHEREAS, Trinity Temple's Golden Jubilee, celebrating fifty years from 1976 to 2026, represents more than an anniversary, it is an opportunity to recognize the enduring power of faith, perseverance, servant leadership, and community partnership; and,
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Legislature recognizes that strong communities are built by people and institutions willing to invest in others, and Trinity Temple's fifty-year record of ministry and service represents a meaningful contribution to the social, spiritual, and civic fabric of Jackson County; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates and honors Trinity Temple Church of God In Christ 50th Anniversary 1976-2026 and recognizes Bishop Benjamin Stephens III, Lady Latonya Stephens, the Henderson family, and the entire Trinity Temple congregation for their commitment to preserving a legacy of faith while continuing to serve, uplift, and strengthen the people of Jackson County and the Greater Kansas City region; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Jackson County Legislature extends its best wishes to Trinity Temple Church of God in Christ as it celebrates this Golden Jubilee and begins its next fifty years of ministry, leadership, service, and “Loving People to Life.”

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
