Body
WHEREAS, Brooke Stanke, the daughter of Mark and Elizabeth Stanke and sister of Alec Stanke; and,
WHEREAS, Brooke is a freshman at Lee's Summit West High School and received an Award of Excellence from the National PTA Reflections fine arts competition; and,
WHEREAS, Brooke entered a portrait of her friend Sara Pitts, who died of cancer, for this year's theme "A Different Kind of Hero"; and,
WHEREAS, although Sara was dying from cancer Sara kept on dancing, performing, and smiling; and,
WHEREAS, Brooke has won many awards from the PTA Reflections in Visual Arts including: 4th Place in the State of Missouri (2nd grade), 1st Place in the State of Missouri (7th grade), and 1st Place in the State of Missouri (8th grade); and,
WHEREAS, she also received the Artist of the Year Award in 7th and 8th grade at Summit Lake's Middle School; and,
WHEREAS, Brooke has not only achieved great accomplishments in visual arts, she has also excelled in academics, winning the President's Award for academic achievement in 6th grade and making the Principal's Honor role for straight "A's" for the past two years; and,
WHEREAS, Brooke is a member of the Lee's Summit West Tennis Team, Student Council, and an active member in her church and community - and her father says she is a terrific daughter; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Brooke Stanke for her astonishing accomplishments in visual arts and for receiving an Award of Excellence from the National PTA Reflections fine arts competition.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
