Body
WHEREAS, the International Association of Assessing Officers ("IAAO") is an educational research member association that provides services to individuals in the ad valorem or property assessment profession and others with an interest in property taxation; and,
WHEREAS, the IAAO has recently moved its headquarters from Chicago, Illinois to Kansas City, Missouri, bringing eighteen (18) jobs and numerous board and committee meetings to our area; and,
WHEREAS, the IAAO was founded in 1934 by John C. Donehoo, the City Assessor of St. Petersburg, Florida, as the Municipal Finance Officers Association ("MFOA"), which was comprised of municipal and county assessors; and,
WHEREAS, soon after the organization's groundwork was set, the MFOA changed its name to the National Association of Assessing Officers ("NAAO"); and,
WHEREAS, in 1959 the NAAO changed its name to the IAAO, by which they are known to this day; and,
WHEREAS, the IAAO is renowned for their education, publications, research and technical assistance, and professional designation programs and sets the professional standard for assessors world-wide; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature welcomes the International Association of Assessing Officers to its new hometown, Kansas City, Missouri, and its new home county, Jackson County, Missouri.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
