Body
WHEREAS, former County Executive Michael D. Sanders resigned from his position effective 1 p.m. January 5, 2016; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to article III, section 3 of the 2010 Jackson County Charter, Mr. Sanders appointed Fred Arbanas to serve as temporary County Executive until subsequent action of the Legislature; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to that same Charter provision, the Legislature shall have thirty days from the date of the vacancy of the County Executive position to select an appointee, who shall be of the same political party of the outgoing County Executive, by a majority vote of the Legislature; and,
WHEREAS, it is now appropriate that the Legislature adopt this Resolution appointing a successor County Executive to serve until a successor takes office on January 1, 2017, following the November 8, 2016 general election; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following-named person be and hereby is appointed Jackson County Executive to serve a term expiring on December 31, 2016, pursuant to article III, section 3, of the 2010 Jackson County Charter:

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
