Body
WHEREAS, by Ordinance 4334, dated August 8, 2011, the Legislature did submit to the qualified voters of the County at a special election held on November 8, 2011, a question authorizing participation in the Kansas City Zoological District and approving a retail sales tax of one-eighth (1/8) of one cent for the support of zoological activities within the district; and,
WHEREAS, at that election, the voters of Jackson County, as well as those of Clay County, Missouri, approved the question submitted, and thus authorized the creation of the district and the imposition of the sales tax; and,
WHEREAS, section 184.506, RSMo Supp. 2010, the enabling legislation for the creation of the district, provides that the district be governed by a commission whose membership is to include a member selected by a majority vote of the Legislature, chosen from among three persons nominated by The Friends of the Zoo, Inc; and,
WHEREAS, The Friends of the Zoo, Inc., has nominated Chuck Caisley, Carol Hallquist, and CiCi Rojas; and,
WHEREAS, it is now appropriate that the Legislature adopt this Resolution appointing a member to the commission, for a term to expire December 31, 2015; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following-named person be and hereby is appointed to the Kansas City Zoological District Commission for a term to expire December 31, 2015, under section 184.506, RSMo Supp. 2010: Chuck Caisley

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
