Body
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution 12326, dated August 31, 1998, the County did enter into an agreement with several cities in Jackson County, including the City of Blue Springs, to provide funding to meet certain expenses of the cities' Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) or similar anti-drug programs; and,
WHEREAS, the agreement with the City of Blue Springs provided for $56,626.30 in Jackson County funding for the city's Here's Looking at You 2000 anti-drug program; and,
WHEREAS, even with this County funding there exists a shortfall in the amount of $11,873.70 in this program's 1998 budget; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County that the County provide additional funds to the City to meet this shortfall; and,
WHEREAS, the attached Addendum to Agreement provides a suitable mechanism by which to make this payment to the City; and,
WHEREAS, in order to fund this payment, a transfer within the 1998 General Fund is necessary; and,
WHEREAS, the County Executive recommends this transfer; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following transfer within the 1998 General Fund be and hereby is made:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute the attached Addendum to Agreement with the City of Blue Springs; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make all payments on the Agreement and Addendum thereto.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
