Body
WHEREAS, the Greenwood Police Department, located in the City of Greenwood, Missouri, is in need of improving its radio communications systems; and,
WHEREAS, currently first responders are forced to rely on cell phone devices in areas where the current radio system does not provide adequate coverage, thus imposing significant risks to both first responders and individuals needing emergency relief; and,
WHEREAS, the Greenwood Police Department has requested assistance in the amount of $129,120.00 for the purchase of upgraded radio technology with features that will provide enhanced signal quality; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Greenwood does not have sufficient funds to cover the costs of acquiring this infrastructure; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the health and safety of the residents of Jackson County within the service area of the Greenwood Police Department that upgraded radio equipment be purchased; and,
BE IT RESOLVED that the Director of Finance be and is hereby authorized to issue a check to the Greenwood Police Department in the amount of $129,120.00 for the purchase of upgraded emergency radios.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
