Body
WHEREAS, the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City Smart Moves program is designed to help young people develop skills to resist alcohol, tobacco, and drug abuse; and,
WHEREAS, this program serves the Club's Kansas City and eastern Jackson County locations; and,
WHEREAS, this program is funded by a grant from the Boys and Girls Club of America, as a pass-through of funds received for the U. S. Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, in the amount of $153,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, the Boys and Girls Club of Eastern Jackson County has requested anti-drug sales tax funds in the amount of $116,662.00, as a local match to the federal grant; and,
WHEREAS, the contract period for this proposal is November 1, 2005 to December 31, 2006; and,
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney has reviewed this proposal and recommends the expenditure of these funds; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive is hereby authorized to enter into the attached Agreement with the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City to provide local grant match funds in the amount of $116,662.00; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Director of the Department of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make all payments including final payment on the Agreement.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
