RESOLUTION NO. 21200, March 14, 2023

 

INTRODUCED BY Manuel Abarca IV, County Legislator

 

 

Body

 WHEREAS, the County Legislature is deeply saddened by the passing of Gregory Alan (“Greg”) Patterson on March 8, 2023; and,

 

WHEREAS, Greg was born in Joplin, Missouri, on September 3, 1950, to Martha Louise Teeter (later Bullard) and Darryl Bernard Patterson; and,

 

WHEREAS, Greg was a proud alumnus of Drury University in Springfield, Missouri, and the University of Missouri in Columbia, where he earned a master’s degree in Community Development; and,

 

WHEREAS, Greg was committed to the betterment of his community and dedicated his career to public service, community, development, and commercial real estate; and,

 

WHEREAS, Greg’s passion for local history, the underdog, and supporting and revitalizing the Kansas City community led him to start his own commercial brokerage firm, Greg Patterson and Associates, and to open the Uptown Arts Bar; and,

 

WHEREAS, Greg believed in treating all people with dignity and respect and his personal philosophy was to work and play hard, but to always play fair and to pay it forward; and,

WHEREAS, Greg’s love for his family, friends, and community was boundless, and he will be deeply missed by his wife Beth, son Ben (spouse Sarah), daughter Katie, and all who knew him; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature offers its deepest condolences to Greg’s family and loved ones and encourages all citizens to honor his memory by continuing to work towards a better and more compassionate community.

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
