WHEREAS, Hila "Dutch" Newman is one of ten inaugural inductees into the Greater Kansas City Women's Political Caucus (GKCWPC) Hall of Fame; and,
WHEREAS, the GKCWPC Hall of Fame will honor those women who have made a significant, lasting and personal contribution to women's political equality and who have advocated on behalf of equal opportunities and full civil rights for all; and,
WHEREAS, Dutch has been an active leader effecting change her entire life; and,
WHEREAS, Dutch currently serves on the Missouri State Executive Board, is a Missouri State Committee Member, a 5th Ward Democratic Committeewoman for over 30 years, the 1st Vice President of the Fifth District Women's Democratic Club, the Founder and President of the Westport Landing Democratic Club, and a member of the City of Kansas City Liquor Control Board; and,
WHEREAS, Dutch has represented the State of Missouri as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention since 1968, and was selected to represent the State of Missouri as a delegate to The White House Conference on Aging in 2005; and,
WHEREAS, Honorary "Dutch" Newman Drive, representing Westport Road from Mill Street to Roanoke Road, was celebrated on June 28, 2006, in recognition of Dutch's forefathers who fought and gave their lives for the Westport Territory, her family's instrumental role in establishing Westport as the entertainment destination that it is today, and in recognition of Dutch devoting her life's work to Westport; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Hila "Dutch" Newman on her induction into the Greater Kansas City Women's Political Caucus Hall of Fame.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
