IN THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE OF JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI

 

Title

A RESOLUTION recognizing and congratulating Lee's Summit North High School Boys Track and Field team for winning the 2007 MSHSAA Class 4 State Championship and for earning Nike's rankings of 4th in the nation and 1st  in the Heartland Region.

Body

WHEREAS, Lee's Summit North Boys Track and Field team, coached by Kris Solsberg, finished its season as  the Missouri State High School Athletic Association ("MSHAA") Class 4 State Champion making this the fourth consecutive year to place in the top three; and,

 

WHEREAS, the following Bronco athletes achieved All State status:

Derek Atwood (Senior)                     shot put

Scott Betsher (Senior)                     pole vault

Kyle Wineinger (Junior)                     pole vault

Lucas Connelly (Junior)                     800m, 4x400m relay; 4x800m relay

Aaron Dixon (Senior)                      800m, 1600m, 4x400m relay; 4x800m relay

Jared Cruse (Senior)                     110m high hurdles; 4x200m relay

Stephen Seals (Senior)                     4x200m relay; 4x400m relay

Josh Schulz (Senior)                     4x800m relay

Jordan Simmons (Junior)                     4x200m relay

Sam Boehmer (Senior)                     4x800m relay

Darius Walker (Senior)                     4x200m relay, 4x400m relay, State Champion in the 110m high hurdles and 300m intermediate hurdles; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Broncos Track and Field team excelled in Nike's ranking as one of the top five track and field teams in the nation for the third consecutive year and No. 1 in the Heartland Region for the third consecutive year; and,

 

WHEREAS, Nike, in conjunction with Dyestat (a high school track and field website) and Eastbay (an online athletic sporting goods source), established the Nike Web Nationals that measures a team's top performers in ten predetermined events that ranked the Broncos 4th in the nation; and,

 

WHEREAS, the following Bronco athletes placed in the national ranking:

Darius Walker (Senior)                     110m high hurdles; 400m dash

Aaron Dixon (Senior)                     1600m run

Josh Schultz (Senior)                     3200m run

Kyle Wineinger (Junior)                     long jump

Brett Brennan (Senior)                     high jump

Scott Betsher (Senior)                     pole vault

Derek Atwood (Senior)                     shot put and discus; and,

 

WHEREAS, the following coaches are to be commended for leading the Bronco's Track and Field team so successfully:

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates the Lee's Summit North Boys Track and Field team on its outstanding performance in winning the 2007 MSHSAA Class 4 State Championship and earning Nike's rankings of 4th place in the nation and 1st place in the Heartland Region and extends its sincere best wishes for continued success in future competitions.

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
