Floor Amendment March 4, 1996 IN THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE OF JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI Title A RESOLUTION authorizing the Manager of the Division of Finance to make payments required in 1996 by the Kansas City Election Board's lease with the Corrigan Building Corp., for its new location at the Corrigan Building, at a cost to the County not to exceed $166,839.72. Intro RESOLUTION 11199, March 4, 1996 INTRODUCED BY John Patrick Burnett, County Legislator Body WHEREAS, due to the County's need for space for construction of the Jackson County Detention Center Annex, the Kansas City Board of Election Commissioners must relocate from the County's building located at 1331 Locust in Kansas City; and, WHEREAS, after an extensive request for proposals process, the County's Purchasing Director has negotiated a satisfactory lease for new space for the Board, located in the Corrigan Building, 1828 Walnut in Kansas City; and, WHEREAS, that Lease, which is effective as of April 1, 1996, requires the Board to pay in 1996, the sums of $16,436.88 as a security deposit, $147,931.92 as rent (nine months at $16,436.88 per month), and up to $60,000 to reimburse the landlord for improvements and remodeling, for a total not to exceed $224,368.80; and, WHEREAS, of these amounts, Jackson County has agreed to pay the security deposit, remodeling expenses, first two months' rent, and one-half of the remaining seven months rent, with the City of Kansas City to pay the other half, for a total due from Jackson County not to exceed $166,839.72; and, WHEREAS, these funds were appropriated in the newly-created Justice Improvement Fund in the 1996 Jackson County Budget; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Manager of the Division of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make payments not to exceed the total amount of $166,839.72 to the Corrigan Building Corp., upon the advice of the Kansas City Board of Election Commissioners...Attorney Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
