Body
WHEREAS, the Longview Horse Park was built in 1985 and is in need of renovations to improve safety to horses and riders; and
WHEREAS, needed renovations to horse park's facilities include: demolition and replacement of the dressage arena, including warm-up area, fencing, bleachers and judging stand; lighting upgrade in the multi-purpose arena; and construction of support facilities, including restrooms and show offices; and,
WHEREAS, Kathy O'Brien of the Longview Horse Park Association, submitted a grant application to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources on behalf of Jackson County Parks and Recreation for funds to renovate these facilities; and,
WHEREAS, the County has been awarded the grant from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, under the Landmark Local Parks Program, and received pledges of over $112,000.00 in donations of cash, materials, and labor to be used toward renovations at the horse park facilities; and,
WHEREAS, the Longview Horse Park Association deserves the highest praise for recognizing the need for top quality facilities at the Longview Horse Park; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature recognizes and commends the Longview Horse Park Association for the hard work and effort put forth for renovations of facilities at the Longview Horse Park.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
